Who Are We?
It is the glorious Quran which governs a Muslim’s life from the cradle to the grave. The recitation of the Quran is an integral part of a believer’s life. A knowledge of ‘Ilm al Tajwid is as necessary for the correct recitation of the Quran as is the act of breathing for the body. Allah by His Mercy, revealed the Quran to us. It is made up of 114 Surahs, which are made up of 6000+ Ayahs, which are made up of words, which are made up of letters. So the letters are the smallest components which this whole Quran is composed of, and they are 29 in total. For this reason anyone who wanted to recite the Quran, had to know how each of these 29 letters were pronounced during the time when the Quran was being revealed. This is where the Science of Tajwid comes in. It is necessary that its recitation agrees with the manner transmitted from the Messenger of Allah SAW, from the aspect of the articulation pints of the letters and the inherent and transient characteristics of the letters. It is such then, that learning tajwid of the recitation of the Quran is a necessary matter, for by it one can distinguish the correct pronunciation from that which is not. The general linguistic meaning of Tajweed is “excellence and precision.” In specific Islamic terminology it is defined as: “the recitation of the Quran as it was revealed to Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah SAW, or more specially ‘Ilm al Tajweed, The Science of Tajweed is a science which deals with knowing how to give each letter its right and dues in terms of its articulation point (Mukharij) and in terms of its characteristics (Safaat).
Konooz Ul Quran Academy aims to give theoretical and the practical application of these rules during Quran recitation, which is the ultimate aim of Tajweed al- Quran, cannot be mastered except by hearing and repeating, which necessitates oral examination by a certified teachers.

History of Tajweed
At the time of the Prophet (SAW) there was no need for people to study Tajweed because they talked with what is now known s Tajweed so it was natural for them. When the Arabs started mixing with the non-Arabs as Islam spread, mistakes in Quran recitation started appearing, so the scholars had to record the rules. Now, because the everyday Arabic that Arabs speak has changed so much from the Classical Arabic with which the Quran was revealed, even Arabs have to study Tajweed.
The Purpose of Tajweed
The Quran is the word of Allah, and its every syllable is from Allah. Its recitation must be taken very seriously. The purpose o f the Science of Tajweed in essence is to make the reciter proficient in reciting the Quran, observing the correct pronunciation of every letter with the rulings and characteristics which apply to each letter, without any exaggeration or deficiency. And so through this the reciter can recite the Quran upon the way of the Prophet pbuh, as he received it from Jibreel who received it from Allah (SWT) in the Classical Arabic dialect that it came in.
